The latest crackdown on suspected organised crime gangs operating in the region saw local gardaí team up with a sniffer dog and armed support units when searching a number of properties in the east Cavan area.

“Investigations are continuing,” said a spokesperson for An Garda Síochana, adding that due to “operational reasons” no further information is available on the raids that took place in and around Bailieborough last week.

Gardaí attached Bailieborough Garda Station, accompanied by the Cavan/Monaghan Divisional Drugs Unit, the National Dog Unit and the Regional Armed Support Unit, were involved in the searches on Tuesday, September 14.

“The searches were targeted against organised crime gangs operating in East Cavan believed to be involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the area,” gardaí subsequently posted on social media.
