Plans lodged for Belturbet houses

A decision is expected next month.

Plans for 14 new houses in Belturbet have been lodged with Cavan County Council.

The three bed homes are planned for the Corporation Lands in the town, across from the existing Marian Park.

Kieran Maguire Construction is planning the development, made up entirely of semi-detached homes.

The plans have been lodged on behalf of the company by Butlersbridge based Michael Fitzpatrick Architects Ltd.

Also included is a service road, connection to public services, public lighting and landscaping, as well as ancillary works.

It follows a number of previous attempts to develop the land.

Plans for 33 new homes were refused in September 2004, with a second submission - for 15 homes - in December 2004 also refused.

Plans for 19 homes were lodged in December last year but this development was also refused permission. Concerns over the density of the development and the overlooking of nearby properties were raised by the planner.

Submissions on the current plans can be made until October 12, with a decision expected from Cavan County Council by early November.
