Three roads for upgrade

Three roads in the Ballyjamesduff Municipal District area have been listed for immediate inclusion in the 2021 Roadworks programme.

Some of the routes, elected members were told, are in urgent need of investment, with the road surfaces deteriorating badly.

Senior Executive Engineer for the area John McGahern proposed that the L2509, L25111, and L2513 at Loch Gowna needed fixing, pointing out that the village relied heavily on passing trade and tourism.

He also stated that the R194 connecting with the R195 at Ballyjamesduff required additional repair. The third and final scheme is the RL655 at Drumcarban.

Approval was proposed by chair of the MD, Fine Gael's Trevor Smith, and seconded by Fianna Fáil's Philip Brady.
