McMenamin is new Cavan selector

News

Cavan senior footballers have been handed a boost with the news that former Tyrone star Ryan McMenamin is to join Mickey Graham’s backroom team.

The three-time All-Ireland SFC medallist previously managed Fermanagh and comes in as selector/coach, filling the vacancy left by Dermot McCabe, who recently stepped down.

Fellow selectors Martin Corey (Clontibret) and John Denning (Drumalee) are understood to be staying on for the 2022 season as Cavan look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign this year in which they were relegated to Division 4 and surrendered their Ulster senior title in the first round at the hands of eventual All-Ireland champions Tyrone.

McMenamin stepped down from the Fermanagh role in August after two years at the helm. His appointment is subject to ratification at the next county board meeting.
