Locals urged to sign up for National Women’s Enterprise Day events

Female entrepreneurs and budding businesswomen are being encouraged to look to the future and register for this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day, with three Cavan women to feature in the line-up.

‘Build the Future’ is this year’s theme and the free event will take place online on Thursday, October 7 and will feature some of Ireland’s best known female entrepreneurs.

Aimee Connolly of Sculpted by Aimee, Rachel Doyle of The Arboretum and Sharon Keegan of Peachy Lean, who was recently supported on Dragon’s Den UK, are among those to appear.

Three Cavan business women are also on the impressive programme and include Jess Kavanagh of Cavan based Olann, one of the NWED ‘Leading Lights’ representing LEO Cavan. She was chosen for showing exceptional leadership, resilience and innovation in 2021.

Ann Rudden of Aine’s Chocolates in Stradone will speak as part of a panel on ‘Is Internationalisation right for your business’.

Caroline Ashe Brady of KORE Systems based in Kilnaleck is also on a panel to discuss ‘Planet, People, Purpose & Profit’.

The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) initiative, now in its 15th year, will be hosted by founder and broadcaster Aine Kerr.

Head of Enterprise at LEO Cavan, Marcella Rudden said, “National Women’s Enterprise Day has always been a day of celebration of the very best in female entrepreneurship and highlighting the strength of that community and this year is no different.”

Traditionally National Women’s Enterprise Day has taken place locally with LEO Cavan hosting events for female entrepreneurs and business women across the region. However, the event went online in 2020 due to COVID restrictions and will take place online again this year as a national event.
