Castlepollard student wins German essay competition

Tara Ralph from Castlepollard, a Form 3 student at Wilson’s Hospital School, was a prize winner in this year’s Irish Austrian Society German essay competition.

The competition attracted its highest ever number of entries, at more than 400.

Tara’s prizewinning entry was a letter to a fictional Austrian pen pal about ‘Life in Lockdown’, in which she talked about her new dog Massie, her love of music, online learning and the famous Salzburger Festspiele.

Prizewinners were guests of honour on Friday October 8 at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria, Thomas Nader, where Tara received her prize in the Junior Category.
