New IDA building within two years

A new IDA facility for Cavan town is expected to be complete by 2023.

The organisation has partnered with the County Council and Digital Hub on the plans for the Business & Technology Park in Killygarry.

Planning approval was granted for a new Advanced Technology Building at Site No. 3 in the park in June, consisting of a two-storey serviced factory unit with administration and staff facility areas and a single-storey manufacturing/assembly/storage area.

Tánaiste and Business Minister Leo Varadkar last week said he expected construction to begin next year, with a completion date of 2023.

The IDA says it “has collaborated with Cavan County Council and Cavan Digital Hub to provide a pathway to attract and retain inward investment” to the business park. “IDA Ireland now plans to develop this Advanced Building Solution over the lifetime of IDA’s Strategy Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021 – 2024, with the aim of creating opportunities for employment, the expansion of existing business and enhancing County Cavan’s offering for inward investment.”

It’s expected the IDA will then market the property to potential foreign investors.

Last year it issued a tender for contractors to extend existing infrastructure within its Business & Technology Park.

Work on a similar project outside Monaghan Town is nearing completion. It’s hoped the 1329m2 Advanced Technology Building on the Armagh road will attract foreign direct investment to the area.
