A man in his early 20s has been arrested

A man has been arrested and is currently being detained by gardaí after €150,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and cannabis herb was seized at a house in Carrickmacross.

The search of the property in the south Monaghan town was conducted under 'Operation Tara', which is part of an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy that began back in July focusing on tackling street-level dealing in cities, towns and villages across the country.

The late night Bank Holiday raid on a residential property in Carrickmacross occurred at approximately on 9pm on Monday, October 25

During the course of the search approximately €150,000 worth of suspected cannabis plants and dried cannabis herb was located and seized.

A man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene.

The male is currently being detained for questioning in relation to the seizure at Carrickmacross Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act 1996.
