Cavan company takes home 2021 SEAI Award

KORE have set a goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030

Cavan based insulation solutions provider, KORE Insulation, has won the SME Exemplary Energy Performance award at the 2021 Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) Energy Awards.

There were 26 finalists shortlisted for the 2021 SEAI Energy Awards with projects delivering combined energy savings of €41.5 million.

A total of ten awards were presented to individuals, businesses, communities, and public sector organisations in recognition of their commitment and dedication to sustainable energy and climate action.

Over the past five years, Kilnaleck-based KORE has implemented major reform in reducing their energy demand and carbon emissions. KORE Insulation also participates in many retrofit schemes across the country and have also implemented a range of energy saving measures in their own factory.

KORE, which was founded in 1997 by Tommy and Helen Brady and Jimmy Macken, have set a goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Its not the first time KORE have been hailed by industry peers for their forward looking approach to business.

Last year the local firm was the overall winner of the SFA National Small Business Awards 2020, as well as winning in the manufacturing category.

Commenting on the award Caroline Ashe, Commercial Director, KORE Insulation said: “To win the SEAI Energy Award feels absolutely amazing. Commenting on the leadership shown by all the finalists and winners, Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan congratulated the participants who he said are “setting an example for us all” with real life solutions for a cleaner more sustainable energy future. “Right across the country we are seeing a growing commitment to sustainability, from individuals, communities, businesses and public bodies. The Climate Action plan, which will be published shortly, will set out how we can scale up our efforts across all sectors, so that we can face the climate challenge together.”

Other 2021 SEAI Energy Award winners include; Duncan Stewart (Outstanding Contribution to Sustainable Energy Award); Paddy Shanahan (Emerging Sustainable Energy Champion); University College Cork/Tyndall National Institute (Energy in Buildings); Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown County Council (Energy Team of the Year); Glasport Bio Ltd, Galway (Excellence in Energy Research and Innovation); Falls Hotel & Spa, Clare (Innovative Deployment of Renewable Energy); Inishowen Development Partnership – Inishowen SEC, Donegal (Inspirational Energy Community); Pfizer Grange Castle (Large Business Exemplary Energy Performance); and An Post (Leadership in the Public Sector - Exemplary Energy Performance).
