Green light for parade

The Christmas Lights Vehicle Parade celebrates 10 years of brightening up the holiday season as preparations are in train for the annual event.

Last year the parade was conducted in a tractor-run style, with additional routes to previous years to avoid large gatherings of people.

Originally set up in aid of the Vincent McGee Benefit Fund, the annual event has benefited a number of charities over the years.

“It is a fundraising event to help collect money for different groups and different organisations within Cavan who support others in times of need,” explained one of the organisers, Kevin Smith.

“All is going well, we just had our second meeting in the run up to the event. We will hold it on December 19. We are hoping to build on the success of the last few years and help out a number of worthy charities.”

Support can be given online through the event’s Facebook page and the GoFundMe page.

Registration can be completed on the official Cavan Lights Vehicle Parade Facebook page.
