Colder weather to return

Cold and windy this morning with scattered showers and sunny spells developing.

Some of the showers will be heavy with some falls of sleet likely along with a risk of hail.

Highest afternoon temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees in fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds, easing during the evening.

TONIGHT

Tonight will be cold with showers becoming confined to coastal counties and easing through the night but still with falls of sleet possible.

Lowest temperatures of -1 to +3 degrees with some mist and hill fog forming in mostly light to moderate northwesterly winds, fresher near coasts.

Frost will develop in many areas too, especially over the eastern half of the province where it will be coldest.

TOMORROW

Thursday morning will be largely dry with some sunny spells and just a few showers.

Cloud will build from the northwest with rain and drizzle, extending across eastwards through the afternoon and turning persistent in the evening. H

ighest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees, coldest in the eastern half of the province. Light to moderate westerly breezes will back southwesterly ahead of the rain.
