Heavy rain expected this afternoon

A largely dry start to the morning with well scattered showers, and sunny spells developing.

Cloud will gradually build from the west through the day, with patchy drizzle developing during the afternoon. Heavier and more persistent rain will develop in the northwest in the evening.

Highest afternoon temperatures of just 3 to 7 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds, backing southwesterly in the afternoon.

TONIGHT

Tonight, the persistent rain will continue to track southeastwards with a clearance in the northwest early in the night extending across the province with just some light patchy rain, drizzle and mist lingering in places.

Lowest temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees. Moderate, occasionally fresh, southwesterly winds will veer northwesterly and ease.

TOMORROW

Friday will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells, and just the chance of a few stray showers near coasts.

Highest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees in mostly light to moderate west to southwest winds, but freshening towards the evening as a band of showers push in from the northwest.
