Arva Credit Union - local, loyal and lending

The Credit Union offers flexible loans when members need them most from a lender who cares

As the expenses of the season start to mount many people will look to their local Credit Union for financial assistance. Preparations for many in the south Cavan and north Longford area start with a visit to the North Longford & Arva Credit Union, which makes its members' festive wishes come true, with a special six per cent Christmas loan.

In preparation for a busy Christmas, the Credit Union offers flexible loans when members need them most from a lender who cares. Owned by the members, the people who save and borrow with it, North Longford & Arva Credit Union offers access to fair and reasonable rates on loans.

CEO, Stephen McDermott, spoke of what the Credit Union is doing for members: “We are gearing up for a busy December and Christmas period. We are a not-for-profit co-operative, we exist only to serve our members, not to profit from their needs.

Credit Union decisions are made by local people to enhance the community we operate in. We are local, loyal and lending.

We currently provide loans from €100 up to €40,000 for all our member’s needs.

“When Bank of Ireland left Arva in October it was a setback for the town, but the range of services we offer fills many of the gaps and our community appreciate that. We are here for the long term."

Stephen says the Credit Union will be offering a number of additional services in the New Year: “We will be hosting an on-street ATM and we will also be launching a facility for members to pay their direct debits.”

The North Longford & Arva Credit Union CEO is looking forward to meeting members' needs in the coming year: “Our Credit Union is very proud to retain its independent status. In the absence of a bank in the town, we provide a very important financial service within the community. Our loan book is open and we want to help members achieve their financial goals."

Stephen concluded by thanking all the staff and board for their dedication over the last difficult year. "Our thanks also go to our members who have been supporting us in that time. We wish all our staff, members and friends all the best for Christmas '21 and a prosperous and healthy New Year.”
