Nice to Meat you!

McGurren's celebrated 20 years in business in 2021

Anthony McGurren of McGurren's award winning artisan butchers at The Diamond celebrated 20 years in business in Belturbet this year.

"It's hard to believe. That time has just flown by," says Anthony, who thanks his loyal customer base for all their support over those two decades.

The local business currently employs six people and, during the pandemic, invested heavily in the store and its offering.

Included in that strategic investment was the installation of a 'Built For Beef' branded, dry aging fridge and cabinet.

The state-of-the-art refrigeration system, complete with computer controlled air circulation that creates a microclimate ideal for dry-aging beef, has already proven a hit with Anthony's regulars.

Aligned to that, Anthony has become a fully fledged member of the Irish Butcher's Guild, a group of passionate and innovative independent butchers and meat experts, dedicated to delivering uncompromising quality and great service.

"We try to source as much of our meat locally, buy Irish products where and when we can," explains Anthony, who adds that the guarantee also feeds into promoting the 'shop local' message that has proven so important to ensuring businesses in towns and villages across the country not just survive, but prosper. "I'd like to thank all my customers who have support this business, this year and every year over the past 20 years," says Anthony.

"It's very much appreciated. I hope to be in business in Belturbet for many more years to come."
