Covid test centres close due to storm

Storm Barra has forced changes to plans

Cavan COVID-19 Testing Centre closed early this afternoon (3:30pm) and will reopen tomorrow morning at 10am.

The decision was taken in the interest of service user/staff safety due to Storm Barra.

Monaghan COVID-19 Testing Centre also closed early at 4pm this evening and will reopen tomorrow morning at 10am.

Earlier the HSE advised its Covid-19 vaccination centres in Cavan and Monaghan had contingency plans in place for the storm including emergency generators in the case of a power outage.

It stated that clients already in the building will be vaccinated but warned the remainder of the clinic may have to be cancelled.

A number of weather warnings remain have taken effect as Storm Barra arrived in Ireland early this morning. It is expected to last into tomorrow night (Wednesday December 8).

Met Éireann has issued Status Red, Orange and Yellow wind warnings for that period and the impact will vary depending on your location.

"Public safety is our number one priority at all times", said the HSE in a statement. Updates will be made throughout the day via the CHO1 Twitter account @HSECommHealth1
