'Feel Good' story of the festive season

The positivity of Feel Good Bicycle's big-hearted gesture is even catching on elsewhere.

Knowing that many kids would love a new bike but that Santa and his elves might not always be able to provide, one local shop is simply giving giving away bicycles to those less fortunate this Christmas.

For the second year in a row now, George Allen and the team at Feel Good Bicycles in Virginia, have taken to social media hoping of sharing the festival cheer, and find a new home for a small selection of used bikes the local store has in stock.

Already one bike has found a place under the Christmas tree, and there is plenty of interest in the others also, George tells The Anglo-Celt.

“Last year we had enquires pretty much straight away, and yeah, the bikes were collected and we had some very happy parents come pick them up. That's what its all about.”

The Feel Good Bicyle shop is a former nominee to The Anglo-Celt's Business Awards, and the positivity of their big-hearted gesture is even catching on elsewhere.

Only this morning, says George, Peter Skelly of Skelly's Oils in Ballyjamesduff contacted the Feel Good Bicycle shop offering three more bikes to give away.

“Its very generous. Some people have bikes sitting around the house, their kids have grown out of them, and they're happy to give them away. We're happy to facilitate that too. Give them a quick look over at the shop here, and a bit of a tidy up if they need it, and hopefully send them on to another good home.”

After all, George says, there's nothing quite a “memorable” as when a child gets a bike for Christmas.

“Its sharing the love of cycling as well. When you're a kid getting a bike for Christmas, its great. Its always a memorable one, and kids don't ever really mind if its a new bike, or a second-hand one, its simply a bike and its exciting.”
