Bailieborough estate refused permission

The application by Danny Drysdale of Rathmichael Dublin was refused by the planners on three grounds

A proposed 18-home development for Bailieborough has been turned down by Cavan County Council planners.

Drysdale Developments Ltd made the application to erect 18 fully serviced, two storey semi-detached dwellings, all with optional habitable attic accommodation at Tanderagee, Kells Road, Bailieborough, Cavan. The plans also provided for an entrance off the public road, a service road, public footpath and connection to services and all associated works at the location.

The application by Danny Drysdale of Rathmichael, Dublin was refused by the planners on three grounds.

In its assessment, the local authority said the proposal would constitute “overdevelopment” because of the scale and height and its proximity to established residential units. The second reason was the plans did not ‘demonstrate that the design and layout of the dwellings, roadway and open space of he proposed development. And the resulting loss of natural contouring and mature trees within the site, would result in a quality residential environment’.

The final grounds for refusal were that the development would endanger public safety by creating a traffic hazard in that access on to the regional road. The application was lodged at the end of October, with the planners reaching their decision last week.
