Mullagh to host 2022 Operation Transformation

Mullagh will play host to RTÉ’s Operation Transformation for its upcoming season as the series’ leaders are announced.

The long running fitness and weightloss programme returns to the nation’s television screens from tonight (Wednesday, January 5).

Presented by Kathryn Thomas, the series will this year be based in Mullagh, with contestants meeting with their trainers there every week.

The show has partnered with Cavan County Council. It will see people from the county take part in the weekly ad break challenges where Karl Henry encourages them and viewers at home to get up and moving.

The five leaders, from across the country, began their fitness journey in November.

Cavan County Council says it’s “delighted” to partner with the series:

“Cavan County Council, through Healthy Cavan and Cavan Sports Partnership, is delighted to partner with RTÉ for the return of Operation Transformation this month.”

A studio hub will be set up in Mullagh, with the ad break challenges taking place at various locations and featuring people from across Cavan being coached by Karl Henry.

Cavan County Council’s Healthy Cavan Co-ordinator Sinéad Tormey said: “Having the show broadcast from Cavan will play a significant role in helping us deliver our goal of promoting a society where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health, and where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society. We hope the people of Cavan will tune in and join the participants in commencing their journey to enjoying greater physical and mental wellbeing.”

Cavan has had a long relationship with Operation Transformation with four of the series’ leaders from the county over the past nine years.

Charlotte O’Connell, Sarah O’Callaghan, Lorraine O’Neill and Susuanna Komolafe have all taken part between 2013 and 2021. Sadly Sarah O’Callaghan lost her battle with cancer and passed away in January 2021.

Cavan Sports Partnership will this year host an Operation Keep Well six-week activity programme in conjunction with the series. It will take place at 10 locations across the county, beginning on Monday, January 10. Information can be found on the ‘Cavan Sports Partnership’ and ‘Healthy Cavan’ pages on Facebook and Twitter.
