Almost 140 jobs created in LEO supported companies last year

The 2021 results were announced this morning.

Almost 140 jobs were created by companies supported by the Local Enterprise Office in Cavan last year.

A new national report shows 3,999 net jobs were created across the country in 2021, with 139 of those in Cavan alone.

A total of 243 jobs were created in the county but when job losses are taken into account, Cavan saw 139 net jobs created.

It’s the second highest figure in the north east, behind only Meath which saw 205 net jobs. Louth saw 50 jobs while Monaghan saw 26.

The Cavan LEO supported 188 companies across 2021, employing a total of 1,327 people.

Local TD and Minister for Social Protection and Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys welcomed the figures and praised the work of the LEO and companies, particularly given the difficulties of recent years.

“During a very difficult year for many small businesses, this is hugely positive news for Cavan and highlights the determination and hard work of business owners and workers across the county.

“With a total of 188 clients, the County Cavan LEO provides vital support to many of our local businesses, offering advice, mentoring and training, and providing much needed financial backing with programmes such as the Trading Online Voucher, Lean for Micro and Green for Micro.”
