Almost 5.5k did not attend vaccines appointments

In Cavan, 1,600 booster doses were delivered last week, January 9-16.

Almost two and a half times as many people were registered but did not attend vaccination appointments at the Cavan Vaccination Centre at the Hotel Kilmore last week as those who did.

However, more than a quarter who did make their appointments represented persons receiving their first jab to date.

With the spread of Omicron Covid variant still continuing to rapidly spread throughout the community, and cases seemingly peaking nationally with the knock-on effect that has on close contacts, there has been a push on to get as many people vaccinated as possible.

In Cavan, 1,600 booster doses were delivered last week, January 9-16.

There were also 436 more people who received their first vaccine dose, and 61 more received their second dose.

Of those, 234 were walk-in appointments.

In neighbouring Co Monaghan 4,273 did not attend appointments between January 9-16.

A total of 1,180 received some form of vaccination, 282 of which were walk-ins.

Of those who received jabs, 753 were booster cases.

There were 388 first time vaccinations, and 29 second doses administered.
