Celebrating Aisha’s Cyclocross success

Local cycling club, The Breffni Wheelers, have congratulated their riders who raced at the CX Nationals in Armagh earlier this month, including Aisha Gannon on being crowned U14 National Champion.

The talented Aisha finished ahead of next nearest rival Emer Heverin (Kinning Cycles Cycling Club) who initially led the girls' race in the National Cyclocross Championship.

"Aisha has fought long and hard all winter season and has been a fierce competitor this year. Her hard work and grit was on display a few weekends ago, and battled through extremely difficult conditions to secure the national title," say the Breffni Wheelers, recognising the young local athlete's achievement.

The Cavan club also congratulated Bryan Gaffney, Enda Baker and John Lord, who represented in the M40 Team category, winning Bronze in the overall National CX Championship.

Nathan Baker (U10), Ava Baker (U12), Donncha Gaffney (U12) and Charlie Gannon (U16) also raced well in what were undoubtedly the toughest courses of the season.

"The club would like to thank Ulster Cyclocross and all of the clubs who hosted events for a fantastic race schedule over the last number of months; in particular, Square Wheels for hosting a fantastic Nationals event."
