A cool day in store

It's going to be blustery this weekend, but dry for the most part.

A narrow band of rain will quickly move southwards this morning with drier, brighter and cooler weather with a few showers following for the day ahead. Westerly winds will be fresh to strong and gusty, strongest in the northwest and north with gales on coasts. Through the afternoon winds will turn northwesterly and ease. A cool day with highs of 7 to 9 degrees.

Dry and cold early tonight with clear spells. It will become cloudier from the west overnight with some patchy drizzle developing in Donegal by morning. Lowest temperatures of zero to +4 degrees, coldest in the east of the province with frost developing here. Generally light winds, but strengthening on the Donegal coast by morning.

Mostly dry to start on Sunday, but outbreaks of light rain and drizzle in the west during the morning will gradually extend eastwards. Then through the early afternoon a band of heavier rain accompanied by strong and gusty westerly winds will push into the west and quickly move across the province, with a clearance to scattered showers following. Winds will reach gale force in northern and northwestern coastal areas. Highs on Sunday of 7 to 9 degrees.
