Death and Funeral Notices

It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

John Sheridan

The death has occurred of John Sheridan (January 29, 2022) Dundrum, Dublin and formerly of Killinkere, Co. Cavan. Died peacefully at home after a short illness in the care of his loving family. Beloved husband to the late Rita, and adored father to Brian, Rory, Deirdre and Tara.

Sadly missed by his loving family, grandfather to his treasured grandchildren, Emma, Adam, Molly, Cillian and Eoin, daughter-in-law Clare, sister Kathleen, brother Pat, sister in law Dympna, and brother in law Dan. Predeceased by his much-loved younger sister, Bridie. Sadly missed by his wonderful friends and neighbours.

Patrick (Paddy) Smith

The death has occurred of Patrick (Paddy) Smith Killnacross, Redhills, Cavan. Suddenly on 29th January 2022.

Beloved son of Elizabeth and predeceased by his father Tommy. Devoted father to Brein, Padraig, and Aoibhinn.

Adored brother to Denise, Olivia, and Melissa. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his brothers in law, Darren, Peter, and Fabin, his nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins,relatives, neighbours and large circle of friends.

Margaret (Peggy) Martin

The death has occurred of Margaret (Peggy) Martin. Killyvane, Monaghan, H18 KC53, Friday 28th January 2022, peacefully at Mullinahinch Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Pre-deceased by her husband Tommy, daughter Jackie, sisters Maimie & Annie and brothers Pat, Mickey & John. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Deeply regretted by her loving family, daughters Marie, Patricia, Frances and Nuala and sons Thomas and Tony. Sadly missed by her daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Peggy's remains will repose at her residence. House private to family and friends. Funeral Mass, Monday 31st January at 2pm at St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan; https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st-macartans-cathedral-monaghan, burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Latlurcan. Please ensure to wear face masks and social distance.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired to Cavan/Monaghan Specialist Palliative Care c/o Peter McMahon, McMahon's Funeral Home, Emyvale or any family member. Mourners are welcome to pay their respects to Peggy as her remains travel to the church on Monday. If you wish to leave a message for the family, you are welcome to do so in the condolences section below. Please note, T.Martin Fuels will be closed from 1pm until close of business on Monday 31st January. Business as usual on Tuesday.

Sean Treanor

The death has occurred of Sean Treanor, Centereach, New York and formerly of Amackalin, Carrickroe, Monaghan. Tuesday, January 25, peacefully at home. Son of the late John and Florence Treanor, pre-deceased by his wife Eileen, brothers, Eugene, Jimmy & Oliver and sisters Margaret & Gorretti.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Brother of Maureen (Birmingham), Peter (Tyholland), Brian (Monaghan), Annie (Scotstown), Helena (London) & Fr. Martin (Inniskeen). Deeply regretted by his loving family, his daughter Jean-Marie, son Sean, son in law John, daughter in law Judie, grandchildren, great grandchildren & the wider family circle.

Sean's funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Victory Church, Floral Park, New York on Tuesday 1st February 2022 at 10.30am (USA Time) and 3.30pm (Irish time).

A memorial mass will take place in St. Patrick's Church, Clara at a later date.
