Two new arrests in Ashling Murphy case

There has been two new arrests in the Ashling Murphy case.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 60s, were detained on Wednesday March 2, in connection with the investigation, the Garda Press Office has confirmed.

"Both were arrested on suspicion of offences contrary to Section 7(2) Criminal Law Act 1997 and were detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda Stations in the Eastern Garda Region.

"Investigations are ongoing," a brief statement explained.

The two arrested are being questioned in relation to withholding information.

The 23-year-old primary school teacher was attacked and killed while out for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore on January 12.
