It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

John Aitchison (Scottish John)

Tonnyhull, Canningstown,

Formely Edinburgh, Scotland.

Peacefully 3rd March surrounded by his loving family in Esker Lodge Nursing Home. Family friends and neighbours welcome at his sister home Irene and Jim Murdock on Friday, 4th March, 6pm to 9pm.

House strictly private at all other times please. Service of Thanksgiving and Cremation on Saturday, March 5th, at 1pm in Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan.

John was deeply loved and will be missed by his mother, sister, brothers and family.

Mai Duignan (née Walsh)

Corlismore, Ballinagh, Cavan

The death has occurred of Mai Duignan (nee Walsh), Kiltrasna, Corlismore, Ballinagh, County Cavan, Wednesday 2nd March 2022, suddenly at home. Predeceased by her husband Francie, parents James and Margaret and brothers Packie-Joe and Jim. Very sadly missed by her brothers John, Brian and Aidan, sister-in-law Philomena, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Rest in Peace.

Reposing in Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan on Friday evening from 5pm to 6.45 pm followed by Removal to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea to arrive at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 2pm followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

Bridget (Bridie) Flaherty (née Mc Aveety)

Polleeney, Furbo, Galway / Belturbet, Cavan

Flaherty, nee Mc Aveety, (Polleeney, Furbo, Co. Galway & formerly of Corlough, Belturbet, Co. Cavan), 2nd March 2022, Bridget (Bridie), (peacefully) at Áras Chois Fharraige, Nursing Home, Spiddal. Predeceased by her husband Padraig, parents Frank & Margaret, brothers John, Hughie & Frank, sisters Catherine, Maggie, Jane & Maureen & son-in-law Seán. Sadly missed by her loving family Martin, Margaret, Padraig, Brian, Richard, Caroline & Adrian, sisters Annie, Rose & Liz, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughters-in-law, Kirsty, Mary & Rose, son-in-law Derrick, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Cillín within the Church of Mary Immaculate Queen, Barna on Friday March 4th 2022 from 5.30pm with removal at 7pm to Realt Na Mara Church, Furbo. Requiem Mass on Saturday, 5th March at 11.30am. Burial afterwards in Realt Na Mara Cemetery, Furbo. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Western Alzheimer’s.

Ciara Lynch / Ellis, 2 Pairc An Dúin, Cavan, Wednesday, March 2nd, suddenly & tragically. Beloved daughter of Sinead & Paddy & much loved sister of Patrick, Hannah & Jermaine. Sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her nanny Kathleen Lynch, uncles, aunts, cousins, all her extended family & her wide circle of friends.

May her gentle soul Rest In Peace

Reposing at her home in Pairc An Dúin on Friday from 3pm until 7pm. House private to friends & family at all other times, please. Ciara's remains will leave her home on Saturday morning at 11.30am, travelling via Wolfe Tone St (Barrack Hill), to arrive at The Cathedral of Saints Patrick & Felim, Cavan, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial will take place afterwards in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry.

Dr John Eakin HANNA

Malahide, Dublin / Carrickmacross, Monaghan

Dr John Eakin Hanna (Malahide, Co. Dublin and formerly of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan) – March 3, 2022, peacefully at home, aged 100 years, surrounded by family and friends. Husband of the late Peggy, will be greatly missed by children, Nancy, Joyce, and David, grandchildren Claire, Graeme, Anna and Ella, sons-in-law Amar and Pete, friends Danuta, Ivan, Carol, Adriana, Angelika, loyal dog Soldier, and many others. A great and dignified man, so easy to love.

A Service of Thanksgiving for John’s Life will take place on Saturday, 5th March, at 12.00 noon in Corvalley Presbyterian Church, Carrickmacross followed by burial in Carrickmaclim Graveyard.

Ann Mc Guirk (née Maguire)

Drumlaney, Newbliss, Monaghan

The death has occurred of Ann Mc Guirk, nee Maguire, Drumlaney, Newbliss, Co. Monaghan. Ann passed away peacefully at home Thursday, 3rd March, surrounded by her daughter Ann. Predeceased by her son Jim, sister Betty (Smith) and brothers Michael, John, Philip and Ben just Sunday 27th March last. Beloved Mother of Teresa (John O' Connor, Clones), Eugene (Paula, Latton), Deirdre (Gabie, O'Neill, Clones), Philip (Nancy, Meath) and Ann (Drumlaney). Ann will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters, sons, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, Niall, Ryan, Cian, Aidan, Grainne, Tiarnan, Connor and Cormac, great-grandsons, Kia and Noah, sister Alice (Lambe, Scotstown) nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Ann.

Ann will be resting at the family home amongst her family with removal on Saturday morning, 5th March, to St Laobhin's Chapel, Killeevan for 10.30am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Ethna Murnane

17 Main Street, Ballybay, Monaghan

The death has occured of Ethna Murnane, 17 Main Street, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan on March 3rd 2022.

Ethna passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her darling husband Peadar. Cherished and adored Mam of Mairéad (George White), Peter (Corona), Joseph (Holly), Catherine (Davy McGregor), Áine (Peter McGuirk), Eithne (Eamonn Hughes, deceased), Michéal (Dorota), Pauline (P.J Martin).

Ethna will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her daughters, sons, daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, the extended family and wonderful friends.

May Her Gentle Soul Rest In Eternal Peace

Beloved Ethna will be resting at the family home today, Thursday, March 3rd, from 6pm until 9pm and on Friday from 4pm until 9pm. Removal on Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm to arrive at Saint Patrick's Church, Ballybay for a mass of thanksgiving at 2pm.

Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

House private to family on Saturday morning please.
