Dry but chilly start to the week

Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees

A dry start this morning with a mix of cloud and bright spells as frost clears, says national forecaster, Met Eireann.

“Cloud will continue to build from the south through the day. Becoming breezy as southeast winds freshen, increasing strong at times near western coasts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 7 degrees.”

Tonight, conditions will turn windy but will remain largely dry with some clear spells.

Lowest temperatures generally of 0 to 3 degrees with a touch of frost in places.

“Scattered outbreaks of light rain and drizzle will develop later in the night. Southeasterly winds will increase fresh to strong and gusty.”

Tuesday, March 8, though will be wet and breezy day. That scattered light rain and drizzle is expected to give way to more persistent rain in the afternoon with some heavy falls.

“The rain will clear to squally showers later in the evening, with a chance of thunderstorms and hail. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty south to southeast winds, moderating in the afternoon.”
