It is with regret that we note the following deaths in our community over the past few days, as reported on RIP.ie

Violet Grey (née Miller)

Greagh, Stranooden, Monaghan, H18 W253 / Ballyconnell, Cavan

The death has occurred of Violet Grey, Greagh, Stranooden, Co. Monaghan, and formerly of Cranaghan, Ballyconnell, Co. Cavan, Tuesday 29th March. Peacefully, at the residence of her daughter Nicola and Michael Treanor, Greagh,Stranooden, surrounded by her loving family and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Percy and brothers George and Ernest. Beloved and much loved Mother of Margaret (Small, Belturbet), Olive (Mc Intyre, Killashandra), Billy (Belturbet), May (Graham, Derrylin), Kevin (Offaly), Robert (Belfast), Nicola (Stranooden, Monaghan), Adrien (Coalisland). Violet will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters, sons, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandson, sisters Maud, Marion and Elizabeth, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and by all who knew and loved Violet.

Violet will be resting at the residence of her daughter Nicola and Michael Treanor (H18W253) from 4pm to 10pm today Tuesday, 29th March and again tomorrow, Wednesday 30th March, from 4pm to 10pm. Violet's funeral cortège will travel from the Greagh at approximately 12.30pm to arrive at Christ Church, Kildallan, for 2pm Funeral Service on Thursday afternoon. Burial afterwards in adjoining Graveyard.

Gorretti MC CANN (née West)

Shercock, Cavan

Peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her daughter Majella, son Damien, sisters Ena, Dympna and Bridie, brother's Francis and John.Sadly missed by her devoted husband Andy, daughters Olivia, Madeline and Marcella, sons in law Kevin, Martin and Stefan, her beloved grandchildren Katie, Annie, Sarah, Damien, Ciara, Kayden, Martin, Lucy, Lily-May & Andy, her sisters Monica, Maureen & Phyliss, brother Vincie and wide circle of family and friends.

May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

Reposing at her home from 5pm to 9pm Tuesday 29th March & 5pm to 9pm on Wednesday, 30th March. House private please at all other times. Funeral Mass Thursday morning at 11:30am in St. Patrick's Church, Shercock & burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Tom Mc Grath

Clondalkin, Dublin / Virginia, Cavan

The death has occurred unexpectedly of Tom Mc Grath, Melrose Park, Clondalkin and formerly Burreen, Virginia, Co. Cavan on March 25. Deeply regretted by his wife Ann, his brothers Charlie, Phil, Gerard and Martin, his sisters in law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and friends.

Rest In Peace.

Reposing at Matthews Funeral Home, Bailieborough Road, Virginia (A82YV58) on Saturday from 3pm until prayers at 8pm. Removal to St. Matthew’s Church, Maghera on Sunday arriving for 3.30pm Funeral Mass with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please.

Rose (Rosie) O'Hanlon (née Lee)

Dublin 7, Dublin / Mountnugent, Cavan

Rose (Rosie) O'Hanlon (née Lee) (Stoneybatter, Dublin and formerly Clontyduffy, Mountnugent, Co. Cavan) passed away suddenly at her residence 28th March 2022. Predeceased by her partner Jim McGonnell and her sister Jo Garvey.

Sadly missed by her brothers and sisters Tom, Michael, Norbert, Martin, Mary, Noel, and Carmel, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Owney Smith

Long Island, New York, and late Kilsarn, Loughduff, Cavan

Owney Smith died suddenly in hospital in New York on the 28th March 2022. Predeceased by his parents Phil and Agnes. Sadly missed by his loving wife Nora son Philip and daughter Jenifer grandchildren, Jackson and Charlotte, brothers Pat and Gerard, son in law, daughter in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May Owney rest in peace.

Funeral will take place in New York at a later date.

Maureen Griffith (née Fitzgerald)

Racaulfield, Ture, Clones, Monaghan

Peacefully in Boston, America and late of Ture, Clones, Co. Monaghan. Predeceased by her mother Teresa, father Michael and husband Jimmy. Devoted mother of Annemarie (Kevin) and Michael (Nancy Anne). Dearly beloved sister of Liam (Doreen), John (Betty), Nora (PJ) and Bernadette (Vinny).

Funeral will take place in Boston, America. A memorial mass will be held in St. Mary's Chapel, Ture, Clones on Saturday 2nd April, 2022 at 6.30pm. If you wish to leave a message of condolence for the family, please use the book below.

Sadly missed by her son, daugher, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, granchildren, brothers, sisters, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and large circle of family and friends.

Brendan O'Neill

Telaydan, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

Peacefully at home. Predeceased by his brother Joe. Sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, daughters Louise and Simone, sons Martin and Paul, sons in law Colm and Shaymus, daughters in law Diane and Julia, grandchildren, brothers Conor, Cathal and Owen Roe, sisters in law, brothers in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Removal on Thursday (31/03/2022) at 1.30 p.m., arriving at St. Macartan's Cathedral, Monaghan for funeral Mass at 2 p.m. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's New Cemetery, Latlurcan.
