Man dies after car he was driving crashes into wall

A man aged in his 40s has been killed after the car he was driving collided with a wall in the centre of Trim.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, 2nd May 2022 at 1.55am.

The car collided with a wall on Patrick Street. It's believed the car had come to the attention of Gardai prior to the crash.

The driver of the car, a male aged in his 40s, was seriously injured during the collision. He was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown where he later passed away.

The scene of the collision on Patrick Street remains closed this afternoon as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí in Trim are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any person who was in the vicinity of Patrick Street between 1.30am and 2.00am this morning, including any road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to get in touch.

As the car involved in this collision had come to the attention of Gardaí prior to the incident, An Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) have been notified.
