Leanne crowned Liverpool Women's 'Player of the Year'

Bailieborough-native nominated for the FA Womens Championship 'Player of the Season'.

Liverpool star Leanne Kiernan has been honoured by her club by being named their Women's Player of the Year.

It is yet another personal achievement for the young Cavan soccer star, who had a break-out year playing for Liverpool in the 2021-22 Women's Championship after leaving West Ham for Merseyside following the expiry of her contract with the East Londoners.

Recovering from a bad bout of shin splints which disrupted the early progress that saw her plucked from the Shelbourne ranks, the Bailieborough native recaptured her goal scoring form in style, netting 12 times in just 15 appearances this past season.

The wily No 9's performances were recognised too by the Liverpool fans. She has gathered an army of admirers from within 'The Reds' faithful and that level adoration for a on-the-pitch hero was summed up when the Liverpool Women Supporters Club singled Leanne out as their LFCWSC Player of the Season 2021-22.

Most impressively perhaps, Leanne has been nominated for the FA Women's Championship 'Player of the Season'.

The short-listing is due recognition of her ability to crop up with vital goals at crucial moments during the season, helping propel Liverpool's title push and ultimately aid them in securing promotion to England's top women's division next year.

Leanne has earned the 'Player of the Match' award for her individual performances on several occasions this past league season, including when she scored a memorable hat trick of goals in Liverpool's 6-0 drubbing of rivals Blackburn back in January.
