Major housing plans for Kingscourt

Plans for new homes on the site of an unfinished housing estate outside Kingscourt have been lodged.

Located on the Carrickmacross road in the Lisaturrin area, the estate is currently made up of four finished homes, with a number of others in various stages of construction. They have lain unfinished for a number of years.

A planning application from developers Darra Bridge Housing Ltd has been lodged with Cavan County Council.

As part of the proposed development, the four existing semi-detached houses will be retained. The design statement submitted notes those houses were built in a differing position from that originally approved by the council. The developer aims to obtain permission to retain those houses.

The unfinished homes, five built to first floor level and one concrete slab, will be demolished and in their place 29 new homes of differing types will be built.

One three-bed detached home is planned; with eight, three bed semi-ds. Eleven, two-bed terrace homes are also proposed with the remainder of units made up of semi-ds and duplex homes ranging from one to four beds.

When complete, the estate would comprise of 33 homes.

The majority of the planned homes will front onto the proposed open green space within the estate. Another green space located on a steep area of land within the estate will be planted with dog rose, black and white thorn and holly to allow it to “grow wild naturally”.
