It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Nellie Lee (née Bennett)

Formerly Virginia Road and Carrickavee, Ballyjamesduff, Cavan

Nellie Lee (nee Bennett) Castlemanor Retirement Village, Cavan (formerly Virginia Road and Carrickavee, Ballyjamesduff) died peacefully after a long illness, bravely borne, in her 89th year surrounded by her family and in the care of the wonderful staff at Castlemanor Nursing Home.

Predeceased by her son Liam, her siblings Sheila, Eugene, Pat, John and most recently her beloved sister Molly (Smith). Nellie will be sadly missed by her husband Brian, children Nuala (George), Bernie, Julie, Geraldine, Brían (Jessica) and Cathal (Ciara), grandchildren Ronan, Simon, Deirdre, Aaron, Aisling, Lauren, David, Meadhbh and Clíodhna, nieces & nephews, the extended Lee and Bennett families especially her brother in law Hughie Smith and niece Claire (Lackenduff), a wide circle of neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her daughter Julie’s home in Carrickavee, Ballyjamesduff (A82 ET32) from 4pm to 9pm on Tuesday 14th June. Funeral cortège will leave her daughter Julie’s home on Wednesday morning to arrive at St Joseph’s Church, Ballyjamesduff for funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Oldcastle Road, Ballyjamesduff.

Florence Slater (née Scott)

Lisgrey, Virginia, Cavan

Florence Slater nee Scott, Lisgrey, Virginia, Co. Cavan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Cavan General Hospital on Monday 13th June 2022. Beloved wife of David and much loved mother of Nigel, Pauline and Suzanne, loving sister of Margaret (Bowles), Joy Moorhead, Myrtle (Hunter), Stanley, Neville and the late Revd. Noel.

Peacefully, at Monaghan Hospital. Wife of the late Peter, mother of Melanie (Feargal) Derryralt, Swanlinbar, Co. Cavan, grandmother of Martha, Conall and Feargal, sister of Nancy (High Wycombe) and Carmel (New Zealand). Deeply regretted by her loving daughter Melanie (Feargal), grandchildren, sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Bernie WOODS (née Kelly)

Laois / Ballinode, Monaghan

WOODS (née Kelly) Bernie (late of Co. Laois and the Dept of Agriculture, Portlaosie, formerly of Ballinode, Co. Monaghan) June 9th 2022. Passed peacefully after a short illness in the loving care of her family and the staff of St. James’s Hospital, Dublin 8. Beloved mother of Rosanna and Rachel and beloved sister of Gerard, Frank, Margaret and the late Marie. Sadly missed by her family, grandchildren Peggy-Rose, Evan, Bobby, AJ and Sophia, Rachel’s partner Anthony, brothers-in-law John and Paddy, sisters-in-law Maureen and Vivienne, her nieces and nephews Mark, Jillian, Lynsey, Suzanne, Rosaleen, Emma and Ann, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Bernie’s humanist cremation service will take place on Thursday afternoon, June 16th, at 2pm at Glasnevin Crematorium Chapel, Glasnevin Cemetery. Those who wish to, may leave a message of condolence in the Condolences section on this page. No flowers please.
