It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie.

Luke Byrne, Corlough

The death has occurred of Luke Byrne, Teach Bríste, Tí Buí, (Teeboy), Corlough, Cavan.

Luke will be sorely missed by his heartbroken parents Tony and Lorraine, his sister Grace, aunts Mary, Caroline, Siobhán and Tricia, uncle Swithin, extended family, class mates and teachers in St. Mogue’s College, Bawnboy and St. Patrick’s N.S. Corlough, fellow team-mates and all in Corlough GAA and Abbey Rovers Football club, work colleagues and staff at SuperValu Ballyconnell, scouting family in Ballinamore, his neighbours in Corlough and his many many friends.

Reposing at Smiths Funeral Home, High St., Ballinamore (N41 TD62) on Friday evening from 5pm until 7.30pm. Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Corlough on Saturday at 12 noon followed by cremation at The Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

Family flowers only please. In view of Luke’s short but very full life, his family would like if bright colours could be worn in tribute to him.

The Corlough Community are providing refreshments in Corlough Community Centre on Saturday evening at 5pm after the cremation.

Enda McGowan, Elmbank Drive, Cavan and formerly Ballyhaise and Manorhamilton

The death has occurred of Enda McGowan, Elmbank Drive, Cavan Town, Cavan / Ballyhaise, Cavan / Manorhamilton, Leitrim, (Retired Civil Service).

Beloved husband of Anne and much loved father of Jennifer, Claudine and Ciarán. Pre-deceased by his Brothers and sisters, Michael, Myra, Angela, Pat, Rita, Stella, Sean, Gus, Francis, Vincent and Dessie. Sadly missed by his loving wife, daughters, son, sons in law Ciaran and Martin, sister Vicky (Canada), his adored grandchildren, Aoibhe, Isla and Dallán.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan, Thursday from 5.00pm until 8.00pm. Requiem Mass on Friday afternoon at 4.00pm in St Mary’s Church, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan, followed by Cremation at Lakelands Crematorium, Dublin Road, Cavan. Family flowers only, please.

Bernard (Benny) O'Reilly, Doohasson, Drung

Bernard (Benny) O’Reilly, Doohasson, Drung, Co. Cavan, died 13th June 2022, predeceased by his brother Sean.

Will be very sadly missed by his loving wife Christina, his children Karen, Johanna, Marcella, Fiona, Ashling, Sharon, Trina, Claire, Freddy, Christopher, Denise and Jamie, their spouses and partners, his adored grandchildren, brothers Michael and Peter, his sister Bridget, his mother in law Joan, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

May he Rest in Peace.

Reposing at his residence, this Thursday from 4pm to 8pm concluding with prayers. Mask wearing is encouraged and this will be walk through with no handshakes or hugs.

Funeral cortège to arrive at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Drung for requiem mass this Friday at 10am, and can be viewed live on www.churchtv.ie/Drung. Cremation afterwards at Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan.

The death has taken place June 13th 2022 at her home of Marie Canning (née Mc Entee), Marton House, Stranamuck, Castlefin, Lifford and formerly of Shercock, Co. Cavan.

Beloved wife of Tony, much loved mother of Ciara and John and much loved sister of Peadar, Sean, Noel and Angela.

Funeral leaving her home on Wednesday (June 15th) at 5.30pm to St Columba`s Church, Doneyloop.

Requiem Mass on Thursday (June 16th) at 11a.m.

Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, son, daughter, brothers, sister and family circle.

Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on her soul.

Rita O'Reilly (née Flynn), Mullagh, Cavan'Donnycarney, Dublin

Suddenly and unexpectedly at Navan General Hospital. Predeceased by her husband David. Beloved mother of Linda, Darren, Damien and Aidan. Deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, sons, grandchildren David, Jessie, Kyle, Libby, Kelly, Nicole, Hayley, Alex, Jayden, Kayla and Meghan, son-in-law Peter, daughters-in-law Karen and Olivia (Darren, Sinead and Aoife), sister May, brother Paul, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Florence Slater, nee Scott, Lisgrey, Virginia, Co. Cavan and formerly of Kildoo House, Mohill, Co. Leitrim, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at Cavan General Hospital on Monday, 13th June 2022. Beloved wife of David and devoted mother of Nigel, Pauline and Suzanne. Florence will be sadly missed by her husband, son, daughters, her sisters Joy Moorhead, Myrtle Hunter, Margaret Bowles, and brothers Stanley, Neville and the late Revd. Noel, her son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends

Funeral service in Virginia Parish Church on Friday 17th June 2022 at 2.00pm with burial afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.

Seamus Hughes, Leitrim, Silverstream, Co. Monaghan. Peacefully, in hospital, following a long illness. Predeceased by his son Colm. Survived by his loving wife Ann, son Barry, daughters Lorraine (Clive), Maria (Kevin) and grandchildren.

Reposing at his residence from Thursday morning, the 16th of June, until removal on Friday morning at 11:15am for 12 noon funeral mass in St Patrick's Church, Tyholland followed by cremation.

Ronnie Mullen, Sparta, North Carolina, USA and formerly Scotchcorner, Ballybay, Monaghan

Peacefully on Sunday, 12th June 2022 at his home.

Pre-deceased by his parents Fred and Isabella and sister Gloria.

Ronnie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Barbara, brothers Eric, Alan and Norman, sisters Gwen, Jacky, Winnie, Olwyn, Lynda, Gillian, Janet and Alison, the entire family circle and also his many friends at home and abroad.

Ronnie's funeral will take place in North Carolina.

Lorcan Ronaghan, Drumcarn, Latlorcan, Monaghan Town, Monaghan

Lorcan Ronaghan died peacefully at home, after a short illness. Predeceased by his wife Marie. Sadly missed by his sons Declan, Tiarnach and Neal, daughters in law Dolores and Bláithín, grandchildren Bronagh, Cian, Laoise, Rhiain and Síomha, brother John, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
