Patricia Walsh elected Chair of MD

Election took place when the MD held its AGM at the Cavan Townhall Theatre on Thursday morning (June 16).

Fianna Fail's County Councillor Patricia Walsh has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District Area.

Fine Gael's Madeleine Argue, who shared the chain of office as chair last year with party colleague Peter McVitty, has been elected as Leas Cathaoirleach.

Cllr Walsh, who logged into the meeting virtually, was proposed for the role by Sean Smith (FF), seconded by John Paul Feeley (FF), himself recently elected Cathaoireach of Cavan County Council proper last week.

At that same meeting Cllr Walsh was elected to the post of Leas Cathaoirleach to Cllr Feeley as the county's First Citizen.

Cllr Argue was nominated as vice chair by the same Fianna Fail pairing.
