Work underway in Belturbet.

River services block build continuing

Construction works are "ongoing" on a new public services block and riverside amenities for locals and visitors to the town of Belturbet.

Located at Willow Avenue, next to the river and marinas, the services block replaces a former water pump station.

The amenity is being provided as part of €199,800 in funding awarded to Belturbet under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme.

Work on the project began back in March with McCabe Construction.

While progress is being made, senior engineer Paul Mulligan for the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District area, informed "no completion date" has been set yet.

Project Belturbet and the Inland Waterways Association worked closely with the county council and Waterways Ireland in progressing this project. The new amenity will allow boat users visiting the town to access toilets and showers, and allow them to stay overnight and better explore the local area.
