It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie.

Marie Fay (née Smith)

The death has occurred of Marie Fay (nee Smith) Cortober, Cootehill, Co. Cavan, June 19, 2022, peacefully, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Pat, Parents Patrick and Mary Smith, Brothers Paddy (infant), and Joe. Deeply regretted and sadly missed with love by her family, Patricia (Gabriel), Danny, Bernie (Francis), Padraig, Brenda (Michael), Eamon (Mary), her much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Margaret, brothers Terence, Sean and Michael, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of friends.

May she rest in peace.

Reposing at Mullen’s Funeral Home, Cootehill, today, Sunday, from 6 pm to 8.30pm. Reposing at her home on Monday evening from 4pm to 9pm. Removal on Tuesday morning, leaving her home at 11.15am to arrive at St. Brigid’s Church, Kill, for 12 noon funeral Mass, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.

The Fay family home will be private at all other times. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, in memory of Marie, to Palliative Care c/o Mullen’s Funeral Directors, Cootehill, or any family member. Those who would like to leave a message of condolence for the family may do so in the section below, please. The Fay family would like to thank you for your cooperation and consideration at this difficult time.

Funeral cortege will travel to Cootehill, Drumman, Annalee and onwards to St. Brigid’s Church, Kill. Friends and neighbours are very welcome to line the route on Tuesday morning in mark of respect of Marie.

David Corscadden

The death has occurred of David Corscadden, Roo, Blacklion, Cavan / Florencecourt, Fermanagh. David passed peacefully on June 17 surrounded by his loving family.

David, of Roo, Blacklion Co. Cavan. A much-loved husband to Barbara. Devoted father and stepfather to Sara, Laura, Clare, and Dermot. A dear brother to Jane and brother-in-law Mark. A special step grandfather to Jim. House private please.

For anyone wishing to pay respects, a celebration of David’s life will be held at Ballycassidy House at 2.30 pm on Monday June 20.

David will be very sadly missed by his family, colleagues at Florence Court and wide circle of friends.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to all the people who have cared for David both in hospital and at home.

Rita McGonnell (née McKenna)

The death has occurred of Rita McGonnell (née McKenna) Glaslough, Monaghan. Rita died peacefully in her 90th year in the loving care of the staff of Drumbear Lodge Nursing Home. Predeceased by her husband Eddie. Deeply regretted by her daughter Róisín Treanor, son in law TJ, grandchildren Seán and Darragh. Survived by her brothers Arthur and Stephen McKenna Madden and sister Dorothy Lavery, Lurgan predeceased by her sister Maureen McDonald, Middletown. Deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews and family circle and close friends especially Conor in New York.

Reposing in her residence until removal on Monday morning the 20th of June at 10:15am for 11am funeral Mass in St Patrick's Church Tyholland followed by burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Kathleen Boylan (née Smith)

The death has occurred of Kathleen “Nana” Boylan (nee Smith) Rassan Road, Ballyjamesduff (and formerly Lavey), Co. Cavan.

Kathleen died peacefully in her 89th year surrounded by her loving family and in the care of the wonderful staff of Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband Michael, and her five sisters, Rose, Anna, Madge, Sue and Philomena. She will be sadly missed by her son Matt and daughters Marie and Annette, daughter-in-law Marie, sons-in-laws James and Peadar, her loving grandchildren Rosie, Trina, Michelle, Michael, Gary, Regina, Lizzie and Jamie and her adored great-grandchildren Alana, Anastasia, Kacey, Lily, Logan, Ollie and Brody, relatives, kind neighbours and large circle of friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace

Reposing Sunday June 19 at Matthews Funeral Home, Virginia from 6:00pm with prayers at 8:30pm both evenings. Removal on Monday, 20th of June to St. Joseph's Church, Ballyjamesduff arriving at 12 noon for Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in St. Dympna’s Cemetry, Upper Lavey, A82 XW61. Margaret McGorry (née O'Reilly)

The death has occurred ofMargaret McGorry nee O'Reilly Knocknalossett, Cootehill, Co. Cavan, died 17th of June 2022, peacefully, at Cavan General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Sean. Deeply regretted by her family, son Seamus (Joanna), daughters Annette (Colm) and Michelle (Seamus), grandchildren Enda, Darren and Zara, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Clarke's Funeral Home, Bailieborough, Saturday evening from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral service in Clarke's Funeral Home, Sunday at 12 noon, with private cremation afterwards. No Flowers and house private please.
