The name of baby Martha O'Neill, recognised as one of the victims of the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings, has been added to a memorial on Talbot Street.

Dublin City Council added the infant's name, stillborn three months after the series of four bombs exploded in Dublin and Monaghan in May 1974.

Three car bombs exploded in Dublin on May 17- two on Talbot and Parnell Streets. The third explosion occurred on South Leinster Street. A total of 27 people died as a result of the attack.

Another bomb exploded outside a pub in Monaghan Town, killing seven people. Hundreds more people were reported injured.

Baby Martha's father Edward John O’Neill, was one of the victims of the Parnell Street bombing. Two of his sons were also badly injured.

Edward’s wife, Martha O’Neill, was six months pregnant at the time.

Edward O’Neill’s name was already on the memorial and the addition of baby Martha's follows a request from her family.
