Loreto students recently saw their efforts in the area of promoting postive mental health among the school population rewarded.

The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of secondary schools to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being.

The Amber Flag Team in Loreto introduced various initiatives to promote the mental health of students.

These initiatives included peer-to-peer teaching through the HEADSTRONG programme, establishment of a student mental health team, extra mentoring in Fifth Year, a reenergised 'Stand Up Week' and the enhancement of Sixth Year Career Guidance to include an extra focus on student wellbeing. These efforts all contributed towards a happier, healthier school and reduced the stigmas associated with mental health issues. Pieta House presented the school with an Amber Flag recently to celebrate achievements and initiatives in supporting mental health in the school community.
