Bus Éireann adds extra Cavan services

It announced the changes today.

Bus Éireann has announced two new Expressway services linking Cavan and Dublin.

The additional X30 service between Donegal town and Dublin airport and the city will leave Donegal at 10.00am seven days a week. It will stop in Cavan town at 11.40am and in Virginia at 12.10pm, before arriving at Dublin Airport at 1.15pm and in the city centre by 1.35pm.

This express service will stop at Ballyshannon, Enniskillen, Cavan and Virginia.

The additional 30 service between Dublin and Donegal town will leave Busáras at 3.30pm. It will stop at Dublin Airport, before arriving in Virginia at 4.55pm and Cavan town at 5.25pm. It will also stop in Butlersbridge, Belturbet, Derrylin, Bellanaleck, Enniskillen, Belleek and Ballyshannon, before arriving into Donegal at 7.30pm.

Andrew Yates, Head of Expressway with Bus Éireann says strong demand led to the decision to increase services:

“With these additional services, Expressway will be operating 26 trips a day between Dublin and Donegal town, serving Cavan and Virginia. We have seen strong demand over recent months and are pleased to be able to respond and increase capacity to our customers along these important routes.

“We have been operating 98% of services in recent weeks and are running an information campaign advising customers how best to manage their journey with us.”

Bus Éireann is also encouraging people to book in advance in order to secure a seat on services.

"On the Cavan services, most people are now booking ahead. This guarantees a seat on board for everyone who books online and turns up five minutes before departure. Now you can book online with a Free Travel Pass. Booking online also means that in the unfortunate event of a service disruption, you will receive a direct email a number of hours in advance, allowing time to make alternative arrangements,” concluded Andrew Yates.

Bus Éireann has come in for widespread criticism in recent weeks, particularly due to failings in its services in Cavan. The company apologised and said it had faced "challenges" recently.
