Secure your financial future with Newcourt

Newcourt Retirement Fund Managers Ltd and Newcourt Pensioneer Trustees Ltd officially opened their new office in Cavan Town last week with the intention of creating 30 new jobs locally over the new few years. But who are Newcourt?

Newcourt is a privately owed Irish company specialising in pension administration and trustee services, with offices in both Dublin and Cavan. Gerard Keane, managing director of both firms, gives us some of the background and talks to us about Newcourt, and what makes the firm unique.

Newcourt Pensioneer Trustees Limited was established in 1989 and is approved as a Pensioneer Trustee by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners providing Corporate and Pensioneer Trustee Services.

The company is also an approved Registered Administrator with the Pensions Authority.

Newcourt Retirement Fund Managers Limited is an associate company, which commenced trading in 2007. It is approved under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) and acts as a Qualifying Fund Manager for Approved Retirement Funds, is an approved Personal Retirement Bond (PRB) provider and is an approved Personal Retirement Savings Account (PRSA) provider.

Newcourt is one of a small number of providers in the market to offer the full suite of self-invested pension structures. Self invested pension arrangements are popular for many different reasons:

• Flexibility: They offer clients the broadest range of pension investments available.

• Transparency: Fees and charges are clear with clients receiving a bill for the annual charges applicable to their contract. There is no entry or exit penalties with our contracts.

• Control: Clients retain control of their pension investments and a signatory on all transactions.

• Portability: The ease with which you can move from one product to another or one provider to another is very important for certain clients holding certain assets.

Newcourt clients tend to invest in a variety of asset classes and are not constrained to the traditional fund offerings of the insurance companies. The most popular investment choices include direct property investment (residential or commercial), discretionary fund managers, deposit accounts, international investment managers, stockbroking firms and many more.

Newcourt uses its 30 years of experience working with financial advisors to give clients control of their retirement benefits and allow them, with their advisors, to choose where and with whom they invest their pension funds.

Gerard explains: “We believe in long-term relationships, so when you sign up with Newcourt, you get the benefits of working with our highly skilled and qualified staff, while also benefiting from one of the most technically qualified teams in the marketplace. Our aim is to administer clients’ pension contracts and facilitate clients’ investment choices within the framework of the legislation and Revenue guidelines.”

“What makes Newcourt unique is we don’t produce, promote or advise on any investments. “

So why Cavan?

Gerard confirmed that this is a very exciting time for the Newcourt team as it continues to grow business through organic growth and several recent acquisitions. In the last two years, the company has taken over several trustee businesses including Munster Pensioneer Trustees Ltd, IFS Trustees Ltd, JLT QFM Services (Mercer) self-directed business and most recently, Signature Trustees Services Ltd.

“This has resulted in the need to expand our staffing requirements and office space and having looked at many locations we decided on Cavan Town, due to the availability of a well-educated workforce and a number of our own staff wishing to relocate to the area. Martina Kelleher has been with the business from the start and now heads up the Cavan office having decided to relocate home, outside Cavan Town. The people recruited to date have proven we have made the right decision in opening here,” he said.

Gerard also discussed the recent changes in the pension landscape bringing both challenges and opportunities for Newcourt. He believes that the addition of the Cavan office allows Newcourt the opportunity to grow and continue to provide quality services to financial advisors and their clients.
