Speed warning issued ahead of bank holiday

Gardaí regularly carry out speed checks on Cavan's roads.

Local Gardaí have issued a warning to drivers ahead of the August bank holiday weekend.

Speed checks carried out on the N3 this morning saw a number of drivers stopped.

"The speeding is still continuing", said local Gardaí on social media today.

Among the drivers stopped was a van detected at 128km/h, with other drivers caught at 135km/h and 142km/h.

Gardaí say fixed penalty notices were issued to the drivers and each will also receive three penalty points.

Roads are expected to be busy over the next few days as people make the most of the long weekend.
