Solar panels planned for Virginia supermarket

There are plans for solar panels to be installed on the roof of Lidl’s Virginia supermarket.

The German retailer has lodged the plans with Cavan County Council for its site on the Ballyjamesduff road.

It hopes to erect 830.00m2, equivalent to over 8,900 square feet, of solar panels, totalling a power of 150.30kwp. The panels will cover roughly half of the roof area of the supermarket.

Cavan County Council is expected to make a decision on the plans by September 15 next.
