Graham to remain as manager until 2024

GAA news

Mickey Graham is to remain in situ as manager of the Cavan senior footballers for two years, the county board confirmed late on Monday night.

The Cavan Gaels clubman was appointed for the 2019 season on a four-year agreement, which expired following the end of the Tailteann Cup. There had been speculation that Graham may have stood down, with selector Martin Corey having moved on, but the county board were always confident he would stay on and the news was confirmed on Monday.

A short statement from the board said: “Following a meeting tonight Cavan GAA Management Committee are delighted to announce that Mickey Graham will remain Cavan Senior Football Team Manager for another two years. Subject to Ratification at the next County Committee Meeting.”

Graham is understood to be making changes to his backroom team, with the vacancy left by Corey's departure to be filled.

Cavan will start next season in Division 3; promotion would mean automatic entry to the Sam Maguire Cup, regardless of Cavan's performance in the Ulster Championship. Otherwise, Cavan would drop to the Tailteann Cup again should they fail to reach an Ulster SFC final.
