Folly Rockets celebrate Croagh Patrick Cycle 10th Anniversary

More than two dozen participants are taking part in the 200km run, or 400km round-trip.

The Ballinagh Cycle Folly Rockets are set to return to Ballinagh later this evening marking what is the 10th Anniversary of the first Ballinagh to Croagh Patrick cycle.

Their arrival, expected sometime this evening (circa 8.30pm) is part of a long list of events occurring as the Ballinagh Folly Festival 2022 returns following a Covid imposed hiatus.

More than two dozen participants are taking part in the 200km run, or 400km round-trip.

Over the years the event has raised tens of thousands of euros for worthy causes.

Ballinagh meanwhile is abuzz this weekend, with Ballad Singer Damien Quinn opening proceedings on the stage at the Market House, followed by the Crowning of Lord Mayor or Lady Mayoress of Ballinagh.

Derek Warfield & The Young Wolftones played out the night, and today (Saturday), a Childrens Tractor Run takes place (4.30pm), followed by a BBQ on the street (6pm), and more music with Johnny Brady (9 -11pm).

Tomorrow (Sunday) will mark the start of the Honda 50 Run in aid of Ballinagh Tidy Towns, with registration at Ballinagh Community Centre from 10.30am, and run starting at 12 noon.

A Family Fun Day will be hosted at Ballinagh GAA Grounds (3 -5pm), before music later in the evening with Drops of Green.
