St Clare’s extension ‘progressing'

Work on the multi-million euro extension and refurbishment of St Clare’s Primary School in Cavan Town is “progressing satisfactorily” according to a Department of Education spokesperson.

The project will see the delivery of a 2,250sqm, 10-classroom extension, together with the refurbishment of the existing school building. The completed project, it’s envisaged, will deliver a modern 30-classroom school.

Approval was given for the project by Minister for Education, Norma Foley, in October 2020. Construction first began in October 2021.

On her first official visit to County Cavan, Minister Foley commended the strong school community in St Clare’s.

A spokesperson for the Department said that students attending St Clare’s this coming term will remain in their “existing accommodation” until the new school building is complete.

“The extension refurbishment project for St Clare’s Primary School, Cavan, commenced on site in October 2021 with a contract duration of approximately 24 months,” the spokesperson said in a statement issued to The Anglo-Celt.

“Works are progressing satisfactorily. The school will remain in their existing accommodation until the building is complete.”
