It is with regret that we note the following deaths from Counties Cavan and Monaghan over the past 24 hours, as reported on RIP.ie

Thomas Gillick

Caterham, Surrey, formerly Drumbannon, Bailieborough, Co.Cavan

25th of July, peacefully following a short illness of cancer.

Thomas is predecessed by his mother Elizabeth Gillick. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lorraine, father Tommy Gillick, children, brother and sisters, and extended family and friends.

Thomas’s month's mind will take place in St Anne’s Church on Wednesday, the 24th of August, at 7pm, burial of his ashes after the Mass in St Anne’s Cemetery.

Pat Connolly

Aughaboy, Kilcogy, Cavan / Granard, Longford

Pat died peacefully at Our Lady Manor Edgeworthstown on Monday 22nd August in his 96th year. Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Julia, his wife Katie nee Galligan, brothers Harry, James, Hugh, Terry, Peter and his sister Annie.

Sadly missed by his sisters Molly Mannion, and Christina Reynolds, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Reilly's Funeral Home Kilcogy on Wednesday evening from 6pm with prayers at 7pm. Removal arriving Our Lady of Lourdes Church Mullahoran at 8pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11 o'clock. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Desmond (Dessie) McCann

Drummoy, Belturbet, Co. Cavan

Sunday, 21st August 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Suddenly, after a short illness, at Cavan General Hospital. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Sarah, son Padraig, brothers Sean, Frank and Tony. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his loving family, his wife Mary, daughters Paula, Yvonne and Aideen, son Graham, brothers Seamus and Fintan, sister Marie, son-in-laws David and Michael, grandchildren Oran, Mikie, Ella, Finn and Daithi, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Remains will be reposing at his residence this Tuesday evening from 5pm until 9pm and again on Wednesday evening from 6pm until 8pm with removal on Thursday morning, 25th August, at 11.30am to arrive at St Patrick's Church, Drumalee, for 12 noon funeral Mass with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu to Monaghan Rehabilitation Unit c/o Mark Lawlor Undertakers.

McCann Water Well Drilling will be closed until Monday 29th August.

Jimmy (Simon) Reilly

Kilcogy, Co Cavan

Jimmy passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday 21st August surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his brother Joe. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his devoted wife Mary, sons Jim (Aileen), David (Clodagh), and Joseph (Grace), daughters Rosie and Eilish (Mike), his siblings Alice and Barry, brothers and sisters in law, his grandchildren who he adored, nieces, nephews, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing in Reilly's Funeral Home, Kilcogy (N39 W1D6) on Tuesday 23rd from 5pm with prayers at 8pm. Removal from his home on Wednesday morning arriving to Our Lady of Lourdes Church Mullahoran for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

House private to family and close friends.

Family flowers only, donations in lieu, if desired, to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association c/o the undertaker or any family member.

Kilcogy Stores will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
