Cavan Day set to return!

Cavan Day, the online celebration of Cavan, its people, and its culture, returns on Saturday, September 24, 2022.

Now in its third year, and a fixture on the calendar of Cavan people across the globe, Cavan Day will once again see people and friends of the Breffni county worldwide share their love of Cavan on social media with photos, videos, and stories using the #CavanDay hashtag.

This year’s Cavan Day celebrations will see a special concert broadcast from Cavan at 8pm, featuring some of the best-known songs associated with the Breffni county.

In addition, plans for the long-awaited Cavan Calling homecoming event, taking place from July 27-30, 2023, will be announced, with a special promotional video launched on the day.

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Cllr John Paul Feeley said: “Cavan Day is an excellent initiative, which brings together the global Cavan family in a spirit of shared pride and common purpose – extolling the virtues of this unique county and its people. Taking part is easy and open to all – simply take to your social network of choice and post a picture, video, or story which shows your love for the county, making sure to use the #CavanDay hashtag. Those not on social media can take part by proudly donning their county colours on the day.”

Chief Executive of Cavan County Council, Tommy Ryan added: “The idea for an online Cavan Day came about when the original Cavan Calling event was postponed in 2020 due to covid. It’s fitting that we will use Cavan Day 2022 to launch the re-scheduled Cavan Calling.”
