Thunderstorm warning issued

Met Éireann is warning the region could face lightning strikes this afternoon.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for the forecaster as a spell of bad weather is to hit.

It says thunderstorm activity this afternoon will lead to occasional lightning strikes and heavy showers are possible.

The warning is in place until 6pm today for Cavan, Monaghan, Meath and Donegal.

A yellow warning for heavy rainfall is also in place for Cork.
