Major celebrations for CYMS

Cavan’s only snooker club is set to celebrate 25 years in its new impressive clubrooms at the end of this month.

Celebrations are well underway in CYMS, following a large donation they made to the Cavan Cathedral Restoration Fund.

“We decided to make a donation to the cathedral who are doing major renovations, heating, rewiring, generally a complete refurbish job,” says Paddy O’Reilly, club treasurer.

On Thursday, September 29, a mass dedicated to the deceased members of the club will be celebrated in St Clare’s Church, Cavan at 7pm. This will be followed by dinner in the Cavan Crystal Hotel, which will all be paid for by the club. All current members are invited for an evening of food, drinks and good fun.

The club will also be hosting a separate event for the younger members of the club at a later date.

“There will be no juveniles allowed to attend because alcohol will be served on the night. We intend to have a day for the kids. We’ve had a couple of different suggestions, possibly bringing them away for the day go-karting or kayaking or something as long as permission is given by the parents.”
