Smiles all round as new practice opens doors

Virginia has welcomed yet another new business to the town’s bustling Main Street, one with a winning smile.

Virginia Dental Care and Implants, located in a newly appointed and freshly refurbished premises opposite the Ballyjamesduff Road junction, first opened its doors earlier this month.

Located at the heart of the south Cavan town, close to parking and all other amenities, the new state-of-the-art clinic offers a wide range of important dental services, from basic restorative treatments to more advanced procedures, including molar root-treatment, porcelain veneers and implants.

Practice lead, Dr Michael Hannick, has almost a decade’s worth of experience in dentistry, and has a recognised and proven track record of delivering compassionate treatment coupled with exceptional clinical skills.

Graduating from the internationally recognised School of Dental Science at Dublin’s Trinity College, Dr Hannick has worked at dental surgeries across the region, in Cavan Town, Kingscourt, and Ballyjamesduff, and in neighbouring counties.

Dr. Hannick’s personal commitment to career long learning continues as he attends a two year diploma focusing on restorative and aesthetic dentistry under the tutelage of Professor Paul Tipton, an acclaimed Prosthodontics specialist, in the UK.

He has also completed post-graduate training at the world-leading Eastman Institute, London.

He has complimented his own wealth of experience with that of his dedicated team - Aoife O’Connell, Practice Manager, and Kim Brady, lead dental nurse - both of whom are just as passionate about providing patient care over and above expectations.

Dr Hannick has been working with Aoife since 2018, and was immediately impressed by her “strong analytical skills”, while Kim, with more than 10 years experience in the dental industry, has proven to be one of the practice’s greatest assets. Her energy and skill set ensures that treatments run very smoothly.

“We make sure patients are our number one priority,” explains Dr Hannick. “At Virginia Dental Care and Implants we enjoy the finest care, using the most modern technology available, and finding solutions to our patient’s dental care issues, often with transformative effects.”

The landmark building in which Virginia Dental Care and Implants is now situated, has four surgery rooms capable of meeting the growing demand for appointments in the district.

Equipped with some of the best fully digitalised dental chairs, the wholly IT integrated practice operates using only the latest technology, including 3D scanning or Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Virginia Dental Care and Implants is one of the only practices in the region utilising this technology to generate precise three dimensional diagnostic imaging of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in order to best define what types of dental implant and courses of treatment is necessary.

“I feel when patients come through the door here, not only do they notice that it’s bright and fresh and airy, but that the quality of service and care they receive, personally and professionally, is of the highest standard.”

The multi-disciplinary team, with Dr Hannick as lead in treatment, root canal, crowns, veneers and the restoration of implants, also involves the expertise of a surgical specialist, a denture technician, and hygienist.

Together they pride themselves in providing timely care, even in an emergency situation, and they will always do their utmost to see patients at short notice.

“We like to think we’re offering something different. There are a lot of great practices out there, but here at Virginia Dental Care and Implants, our ethos is to over deliver. We don’t want to simply keep patients happy, we want to over deliver on their expectations so they can be comfortable in their treatment and confident about coming back here again.”

Following the full refurbishment of the Virginia Dental Care and Implants premises, in line with strict dental codes and adhering to all regulations, a detailed plan was implemented to ensure a smooth transition of both staff and equipment.

The first patients were welcomed into the new facility September 5, and Dr Hannick, says the sense of positivity about the new practice opening is “very much appreciated”.

“It has been a strong start. We’ve been very happy so far, and since we opened our doors, things have gotten busier day by day as word gets out.”

Virginia Dental Care and Implants will soon provide treatment to medical card holders, who are entitled to a free dental examination in each calendar year, and is taking bookings for private patients, and patients with PRSI entitlements.
