Smart meter upgrades continue across County Cavan

ESB Networks is installing smart electricity meters in homes and premises across County Cavan as part of the National Smart Metering Programme.

The initiative is a key part of the Government’s Climate Action Plan, which aims to put 2.4 million smart meters in homes and businesses across Ireland by the end of 2024. To date, over 900,000 such meters have been installed nationwide, including in parts of Cavan.

With a smart meter, customers can avail of new services from their electricity supplier. These include ‘Time of Use’ tariffs and information on electricity usage, which will help inform decisions on when best to use electrical appliances. To learn more about these services and features, customers should talk directly to their supplier.

Additionally, smart meters are read remotely, which significantly reduces the need for estimated bills. ESB Networks is carrying out the programme in partnership with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities, the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and all electricity supply companies.
